Consultation with Advisory Committee

The committee is formed by experts representing civil society who are directly engaged in census operations and have the objective of assisting the IBGE in decisions regarding the basic and sample questionnaires, methodology and table plan.

Members of the 2021 Population Census Advisory Committee:

  • Alexandre Fernandes Barbosa - Electrical Engineer, Computer Scientist, specialized in data science, in information and communication technology, and in production of statistics about the Internet.
  • Alicia Marta Bercovich de Grunmann - Demographer, PhD in Social Sciences in the Area of Studies of Population and Master in Mathematics, mainly working in the areas of surveys on Demographic Discontinuities, Persons with Disability, methodology and analysis of Population and Housing Censuses.
  • Cássio Maldonado Turra - Demographer, specialized in demographic methods, population methods, population and health and economic demography.
  • Claudio Antonio Gonçalves Egler - Geographer, specialized in geoeconomics, regional and urban planning and territory management.
  • Diana Reiko Tutiya Oya Sawyer - Demographer, specialized in demography and health-related quantitative methods, in population and public policies and in evaluation of social programs.
  • José Ribeiro Soares Guimarães - Economist, specialized in population studies and in social surveys focused on decent work.
  • Marcel de Toledo Vieira - Economist, PhD in Statistics, specialized in sampling, variance estimation and evaluation of public policies.
  • Maria Martha Malard Mayer - Economist, working in the segments of price indexes, national accounts and household surveys focused on labor and income.
  • Marta Maria do Amaral Azevedo - Demographer and Anthropologist, working mainly in the segments of indigenous peoples, indigenous health and education and indigenous ethnology.
  • Ricardo Paes de Barros - Statistician and Economist, working in the segments of inequality and poverty, labor market and education..
  • Sérgio Besserman Vianna - Economist, experienced in the segments of socioeconomic statistics in Brazil, environmental economy and sustainable economic development.
  • Suzana Marta Cavenaghi - Demographer, with degrees in Statistics and Mathematics, working in the field of studies and surveys, mainly in the segments of population and development, sexual and reproductive health; data production and population indicators and projections.
  • Tania Bacelar de Araújo - Economist and sociologist, specialized in regional development.
  • Zélia Magalhães Bianchini - Mathematician and Statistician, experienced in survey methodology, sampling, information production process and quality of official statistics.

The Committee will be chaired by the IBGE´s Director of Surveys, as a natural member of the Committee.
