The Census Rehearsal is a general test of the Population Census. It is the moment to check all steps of the survey, evaluate and improve the planned procedures. The Rehearsal was carried out from September to December 2019.

Poços de Caldas, in Minas Gerais, was the municipality chosen to test the full data collection in this Census Rehearsal. All households in the city were visited by enumerators who interviewed residents and filled out the questionnaires on the mobile data collection device. In addition to Poço de Caldas, areas selected in other municipalities, due to their specific characteristics, also participated in the Census Reheasal. They are:

Indigenous Lands: Indigenous Land Entre Serras in Jatobá/PE, Tacaratu/PE and Petrolândia/PE;

Quilombola Lands: São Miguel, Rincão dos Martimianos, Barro Vermelho and Alpes Quilombola Community, in RS;

Subnormal Agglomerates: Juiz de Fora/MG (11 enumeration areas);

Condominiums with special data collection: Rio de Janeiro/RJ (2 enumeration areas) and São Paulo/SP (2 enumeration areas);

“Non-Portuguese speakers”: São Paulo/SP (1 enumeration area);

Test of different sample fractions: Ermo/SC (50%); General Sampaio/CE (33%); Rio de Janeiro/RJ and São Paulo/SP (5%).
