Besides the Basic and Sample questionnaires applied in the households during the data collection of the 2022 Census, other questionnaires are used in specific steps and situations of the survey.

In the Urban Survey of the Surroundings of the Housing Units, which is carried out in the pre-data collection operation of the 2022 Population Census, Supervisor Census Agents cover urban enumeration areas filling a questionnaire, by means of observation, aiming at providing a statistical overview of some elements of the urban infrastructure of the Brazilian cities.

The data resulting from that questionnaire support national, state and municipal planning offices in the design of public policies to improve the quality of life in the Brazilian cities.

The Basic questionnaire of the survey includes 26 questions and investigates the major characteristics of the households and residents. In addition, some households are selected to answer the Sample Questionnaire, which includes 77 questions. The investigation in the selected households, by means of the Sample Questionnaire, includes questions more detailed than those of the Basic Questionnaire, as well as questions on specific subjects: characteristics of the households, ethnic-racial identification, nuptiality, family core, fertility, religion or cult, disability, domestic and international migration, education, commuting for study, labor and income, commuting for work, mortality and autism.

Nearly 75 million permanent private households will be investigated in Brazil. The Sample questionnaires will be applied in nearly 11% of that contingent, i.e., nearly 8.5 million households.

The 2022 Census will also apply the questionnaire of Indigenous approach before the data collection in Indigenous groups, either inside or outside Indigenous lands. The approach questionnaire aims at gathering information about the infrastructure, education, health and habits of the Indigenous group visited.
