The IBGE established an unprecedented partnership with the Central Única das Favelas (Cufa, a association of slums in Brazil) and the institute Data Favela in order to reduce the percentage of housing units that have not answered the Population Census. In a video recording, the minister of Planning and Budget, declares support to the action “Favela on the Map.” Together with the president of Cufa Brasil, Preto Zezé, Ms. Tebet recalls that the focus is moving forward with data collection in subnormal clusters, know as favelas, communities, villages, slums or stilts.

In order to advertise this initiative, on Saturday (25), at 9 am, the three institutions - IBGE, Cufa and Data Favela – will conduct a national mobilization in favor of the Census in favelas and communities. IBGE enumerators and servants and Cufa and Data Favela representatives will be in Rocinha and in Complexo da Penha, in Rio de Janeiro, and in Heliópolis (São Paulo). The acting president of the IBGE, Cimar Azeredo, and the founder of Data Favela, Renato Meirelles, will also attend the event in Heliópolis.
