In Amazonas, everybody involved in the census operation continues to put together strategies to reach residents not yet enumerated. With nearly 85% of the population already enumerated in the state, the current work is to look for those missing 15% and complete the Census until the first half of December. To do this, the dissemination team, supported by the Coordination of Human Resources, carried out handout actions and clarified doubts in three supermarkets and busy streets of Manaus between November 21 and 25. The actions counted with the support of Atack and Veneza supermarket chains.

In Manaus, central neighborhoods like Parque 10 and Flores have been challenges for the Census teams, with condominiums and high percentages of absences and refusals. That´s why the actions are being carried out in three supermarkets and also in shopping streets where a huge number of persons circulate in these neighborhoods. The actions were made in the morning and in the afternoon, with nearly 400 leaflets distributed per day. The actions aimed at creating awareness in the population about the Census.

The IBGE Superintendent in Amazonas, Ilcleson Mendes, highlight that the dissemination actions like these are important “not only to create awareness in the population, but also to show the enumerators that the Census continues and they don´t feel abandoned.”

For Karina Palmeira, an Operational Census Agent, the actions are very valid. “We perceive that most of them receive the Census leaflet very well, some of them want to clear doubts or even schedule an interview with the enumerator, and many say that they have already responded, but it is valid to take the leaflet to be more conscious of the importance of the answers they provided,” said her.
