The IBGE releases today (14) the “Almanac of the Census” publication, which presents several aspects of the 13 Population Censuses carried out in Brazil, including that of 2022. The product also includes important data collected in the surveys, data collection tools, methodologies, technological bases and curiosities.

The launching event will be live broadcast at 4 PM on the IBGE YouTube channel.

At the same time, the “Bicentenary of the Brazilian Independence” website will be launched as well. The virtual page is plenty of historical, geoscientific and statistical information, and describes the most significant events and facts in the period, as well as the 150 years of the first census operation carried out in Brazil in 1872.

The design of the website counted with the partnership of researchers of the Brazilian Association for Population Studies (ABEP), who contributed with the timeline and also with articles in the family, environment, migration, health, morbidity and mortality, slavery, women and labor subjects.

The website and the almanac comprise the “IBGE and the Bicentenary of the Brazilian Independence - A history of Brazil and Brazilians in 200 years” project, which also includes the youth virtual “Independence Challenge” game, available on the IBGEeduca website.
