In the morning of Monday, 4, the IBGE State Unit in Pará started the training cycle for multipliers of the 2022 Census. The event is being carried out at the School of Public Governance of the State of Pará (EGPA), where 22 servants are trained. All the Census state coordinators participate in the event, as well as representatives of five branches in the interior of the state and an IBGE servant assigned in Rio de Janeiro, who participates as an observer.

In the opening ceremony, Rony Helder Cordeiro, head of the UE Pará, welcomed the audience and thanked the EGPA for granting the room where the activities are being carried out. He also thanked the State Coordination of Training, led by servant Cássio Araújo. “We are very glad to start the technical training cycle of the Population Census in our state. Our effort in providing a training of quality will be reflected in the quality of the census operation. And this is exactly our commitment with the society: carry out a census of quality to provide the most faithful picture of Pará and of Brazil,” highlighted Cordeiro.

Cássio Araújo highlighted the importance of the partnership with the EGPA. “Thanks to the venue granted by the School of Governance, we are able to train most servants assigned in Belém. We managed to cut costs, bringing here five servants of the branches of Tucuruí, Marabá, Bragança, Santarém and Capanema”, detailed him.

Douglas Oliveira, manager of Planning and Management of the UE Pará, considered the training a key step for the 2022 Census. “Anything in the magnitude of a Population Census in Brazil requires a precise planning. Training is like the foundation of a house. And a huge construction is not made alone! Union and commitment is required from the national and regional coordinations down to enumerators, ACMs, ACSs and other servants directly involved,” summarized him.

For Luiz Cláudio Martins, the Census state technical coordinator, “the preparation of a census occurs on several fronts: the PSSs, the surveyings made by the Territorial Base team, etc. Anyway, training is one of the most relevant steps. It is the ‘foundation’ for the qualification of persons who will be directly involved in the data collection. In these ten days we will consolidate the base to safely reach the last phase of the training cycle,” assured him.

Solange Perotes, who answers for the Area Coordination in Capanema, talked about the pride for being selected to participate in the training. “It is an honor to belong to the team here today. We will work as multipliers of the concepts and methodologies established for the data collection of the long-awaited 2022 Population Census,” said her. “We guarantee the quality by joining knowledge, know-how and experience among the permanent IBGE teams and the multitude of census agents hired to ‘the greatest coverage with the best quality’”.

For the area coordinator in Itaituba, Wellington Costa Pereira, an on-site training is “an excellent opportunity for qualifying for a long-awaited Population Census, in a period that many people lost their loved ones.” Thanks to the event, Pereira assures to be “prepared for the challenge of making the 2022 Census a personal and professional accomplishment for the benefit of the society.”

The head of the IBGE branch in Tucuruí, Mirna Tavares Silva, also participates in the training. About the 2022 Census, Silva says to be “motivated and proud in participating.” However, she highlighted many challenges imposed by the task of planning a census “in times of pandemic and financial restrictions.” For Silva, “the training relieves the fears and yearnings in face of the challenges.” On the quality of the material used in the training, Silva assured that it was the best ever seen in the institution “in terms of beauty and technical quality.”

Ezequiel Pereira de Araújo, of the area of Marabá, reminded the importance of clarifying doubts during the training to pass the information on efficiently in the next training, “where we will have people with different levels of experience in terms of census.” Paulo de Freitas, of the area of Bragança, also pointed out the training as a “key point” to “propose adjustments, improvements or even to translate complex issues in something more accessible to enumerators.” Freitas also praised the material used in the training, from the layout of the slides to the clarity of the supporting videos. Although it deals with extensive and complex subjects, the contents are spread along the days, reducing burden and attrition. It will certainly count in the cycles for census agents and enumerators,” bets Freitas.

The first training of the formation cycle of multipliers for the 2022 Census closes on April 14. The next one will be in the May 3-13 period in the municipality of Vigia (PA), where UE Pará intends to gather 70 area and sub-areas coordinators from the entire state.
