This February, Ceará finished the first phase of the 2022 Census Planning and Monitoring Meetings (Repacs) in all the 184 municipalities. The Repacs are part of a series of a minimum of three meetings per municipality. The first meetings, already made, happen before the beginning of the Census. The second round will happen during the data collection, and the third one, in the end of the process, when some preliminary data will be released.

More than 90% of the Repacs in Ceará were accomplished still in 2021, remaining only 14 municipalities to be approached in 2022. “In Ceará, committing to work and meeting scheduled deadlines are the major tools used by the area and sub-area coordinators for the success of the operation,” highlights Vanessa Vasconcelos, technician in Geographic and Statistical Information and State Coordinator of Repacs in Ceará.

More 14 Repacs carried out in 2022 in Ceará

The last Repacs in the state were carried out in 2022, now in the municipalities of Alto Santo, Potiretama, Maranguape, Eusébio, Limoeiro do Norte, Morada Nova, Russas, Tabuleiro do Norte, Quixeré, São João do Jaguaribe, Pentecoste, Apuiarés, General Sampaio and Paraipaba. With all auction notices already launched in 2022, the Repacs accomplished in these 14 municipalities were even richer in terms of content about the Census.

Some Repacs accomplished in 2022

Counting with the presence of five secretaries and the head of the office, the Repac in Alto Santo had the Census PSS as one of the subjects, and the municipality committed to help with the dissemination. And, immediately after the meeting, a video was recorded with the IBGE team talking about the selection processes, which was posted on the social media of the municipality.

In Potiretama, the meeting counted with the presence of five city councilors and five municipal secretaries. The Secretary of Health, Karla Karine Porto, guaranteed the support of health community agents in the dissemination and in the census operation by making these professionals available to follow the enumerators whenever necessary.

Like in all the municipalities, the venue of the data collection station of the municipality was presented in the Repac in Quixeré, which will also be the venue of the training of the enumerators team.

In Tabuleiro do Norte, the representatives commited to support the IBGE, both by making available a venue with infrastructure suitable for training the team and by granting transportation, in case it is needed.

Ceará gains important support

Having closed the first phase of Repacs in Ceará, “the feeling is of duty fulfilled,” celebrates Vanessa Vasconcelos, the State Coordinator. Like the Repacs in 2021, the area coordinators and CCSs were in every municipality, where they contacted leaders and guaranteed the support required by the next steps of the largest national survey, the 2022 Census.

In Juazeiro do Norte, the largest municipality in the interior of the state, the Repac was carried out still in October last year. At the time, Josineide Lima, the representative of the Secretariat of Articulation, guaranteed the partnership with the IBGE: “The city administration will provide transportation of enumerators in the municipality and grant a venue for the data collection station.”

In Aracati, the municipality that houses the newest IBGE branch in Ceará, the Repac was accomplished in December 2021. Ana Meire Jucá, Secretary of Planning and Administration, confirmed the support in the census operation: “We will provide means to disseminate the operation and transport enumerators whenever it is needed.” In addition, support was provided for training by granting a venue.

The Repac in Cascavel was also carried out in December, in which the head of the office, Alberto Ramires da Costa Filho, also assured cooperation: “The City Hall is the major local support for the Census. We established partnerships to disseminate the steps of the Census, we granted a venue for the data collection station and for training.”

Next steps of the 2022 Census

The State Coordinator of Repacs considered these meetings in the municipalities essential: “Like the old Municipal Commissions of Geography and Statistics (CMGES), which occurred up to the 2017 Census of Agriculture, the Repacs are being very important in the initial steps of the Census. And I am sure that they will be in every step.”

Having finished this step, Ceará begins to prepare the training phase, when the IBGE servants are trained in the questionnaires and in the details of the operation. Later, these servants will train the enumerators for the data collection. On the way to the 2022 Census, the support of municipal managers achieved in the Repacs is even more necessary, and Ceará is quite ahead in this journey.
