On October 29, the State Unit of Paraíba started the 2022 Population Census Dress Rehearsal in Capim, by launching the Surroundings Survey, aimed at investigating the urban characteristics of the addresses in the municipality. 

During the survey, the six urban enumeration areas of Capim will be covered. The operation counts with the participation of two sub-area coordinators, who are working as supervisor agents (ACSs), the state coordinators of operation and territorial base, Francisco Eugênio and Fernando Lins, an area coordinator, Felipe Fraga, and a census analyst.

The survey, which precedes the data collection in the households by enumerators, provides important subsidies to contextualize the information obtained in the household interviews. “We mainly collect information on the urban infrastructure, like street paving, street lighting, afforestation, sanitation and accessibility,” informed Filipe Gomes, a sub-area coordinator in Mamanguape and supervisor census agent in the dress rehearsal in Capim.

According to Francisco Eugênio, the survey of the surroundings is another opportunity for the team to know the selected municipality, assess the training, field test the DMCs and the applications used, as well as the IPEs and the protocols against Covid-19.

Under the point of view of the Territorial Base, the survey checks on-site the compliance of the previously established faces of the enumeration areas. “A mismatch may occur and the need to map a new address or a block that changed may arise. It is made through GPS and later added to the DMCs of the enumerators,” explained Lins.

Coordinated by Jorge Alves, the Population Census communication team was also present during the survey. It was an occasion to produce photos and videos with interviews, which will be sent to the communication vehicles in the state, selling the Dress Rehearsal. 

“We took this opportunity to also strengthen the partnership with local institutions and to carry out, with the Census Coordination of Information Technology, the preparation for the opening event of the household data collection, which will be held at the City Council of Capim and will be broadcast to local servants and journalists,” added Alves.
