Bad weather is not likely to discourage Bahia people. This is true for the population as a whole and also for the IBGE people.

One week before the 2022 Census Dress Rehearsal, under rain and wind, though with pagode as the soundtrack, Thursday, October 28, 2021, Public Servant Day, was chosen for the opening of the data collection station in Amaralina and for final adjustments with the team of the State Unit of Bahia (UE-BA).

Everything under the loving look of Blue Baiana, a work of the celebrated artist Bel Borba, which is the symbol of the Dress Rehearsal in the state.

Beside it, in the plaza, sub-area coordinators (CCSs), who will work as supervisors and enumerators in Amaralina, took a look at maps, made a first recognition of the area and discussed with the dissemination team the previous production of multimedia material both for the IBGE and for journalists, in the launching day of the Dress Rehearsal.

“We got a foothold in Amaralina and we will begin to conquer the neighborhood, in the best sense of the word. To engage people who live here and make them our partners. After all, the Census does not belong to the IBGE, it belongs to everybody!,” stated Mariana Viveiros, the coordinator of dissemination.

CCSs in Salvador are ready to “pioneer” and conquer Amaralina

In the plaza, while most of the team was preparing the data collection station, located in the Secretariat of Mobility of Salvador (SEMOB), Artur Ferreira Filho, head of the UE-BA, was meeting the sub-mayor of the area that includes Amaralina, Zilton Kruger.

Besides offering the venue to disseminate the operation and providing institutional support to the Dress Rehearsal, Kruger was also excited and committed to the next steps of the 2022 Census. And challenged: “The population of Amaralina should have grown a lot in little more than ten years. It will be very important to have the data per neighborhood of Salvador in this Census.”

The UE-BA´s census agents left Amaralina prepared to begin to collect the Characteristics of the Surroundings of the Housing Units in the next day (October 29). Come hell or high water!
