Last Thursday (21), Ilcleson Mendes, head of the UE-AM, Francisco Braz, operational coordinator of the 2022 Census, and Karane Melo, supervisor of Information Technology, went to the municipality of Itacoatiara, far 176 km from the capital, Manaus, for a meeting with the mayor, Mário Abrahim, and his team.
The meeting aimed at presenting to the city administration of Itacoatiara the most important information on the dress rehearsal of the 2022 Population Census, which will be accomplished in the community of Novo Remanso, in the municipality of Itacoatiara (AM), as well as at requesting support to disseminate the dress rehearsal. Information about the 2022 Census and the REPAC that will be held still this year in the municipality was also presented in the meeting.
According to Francisco Braz, the IBGE requested support to the city administration of Itacoatiara for the dissemination of the Census dress rehearsal and for a venue next year to carry out the Census in the municipality, since the IBGE agency in Itacoatiara is small. The meeting was successful.
“The mayor agreed to cooperate with us, both in the dress rehearsal and in the Census itself and, on our side, asked certain care to cover the entire territory. We showed him that current technologies prevent the enumerators from not visiting any housing unit, since any shift is followed by geo-referenced satellite images. He was satisfying for knowing more about the IBGE´s work,” highlighted Braz.
Moreover, the operational coordinator tells that the mayor was excited as a community of the municipality administered by him was selected for the Census dress rehearsal: “he felt privileged because Novo Remanso was selected in the entire Amazonas state for the dress rehearsal and told us that the entire city team is available to the IBGE,” concluded him.
Event and press attendance
The event that will launch the 2022 Census dress rehearsal will be on November 4 at 9 AM at IDAM, in the community of Novo Remanso, in Itacoatiara, with the presence of local authorities and the IBGE´s technical and operational coordinators.
In Manaus, also on November 4, Ilcleson Mendes will be in the headquarter of the IBGE´s State Unit at 8:30 AM to meet the press and provide more information on the dress rehearsal, together with the Supervision of Information Dissemination of the IBGE/AM.
