UE-CE promotes REPAC in municipality of Caucaia and talks about partnerships for the 2022 Census

Repac Caucaia

In the morning of Wednesday, October 20, the State Unit of Ceará carried out the first Census Planning and Monitoring Meeting - REPAC in the municipality of Caucaia. The presentation was held at the City Council with city councilors, representatives of the executive power and secretaries, as well as representatives from traditional peoples and quilombolas.

City councilor Marcelo Pinto opened the session welcoming the IBGE and guests and highlighted the importance of the dissemination of the Population Census to the society. He considered positive to establish a partnership and provide an infrastructure for the census.

Caucaia 1

Luciano Vieira, the area coordinator, explained in technical terms the importance of the Census for the planning of public policies. He introduced the objectives and actions made in a REPAC. Specific aspects of the operation and methodology of the 2022 Census were also discussed. Renan Teixeira, a census sub-area coordinator, talked about the steps involved in the data collection period, security of the information provided by interviewees, secrecy law and mechanisms of identification of the agents in charge of the data collection.

Caucaia 3

Leandro Araújo, president of the Institute of Environment of the Municipality of Caucaia-IMAC, congratulated the IBGE for the quality of the data provided by the institution and offered support in the dissemination of the Census. City councilor Weibe Tapeba stressed the relevance of the Census as a guide to support the indigenous community and traditional peoples. He was complemented by Isabel Cristina, National Quilombolas, about that important moment for the mapping of that group, anthropological redemption and guarantee of rights of that public.

 Wrapping up the presentations, city councilor Marcelo Pinto thanked the participation of the local authorities in the event and invited them for more events of dissemination of the Census in the municipality, providing all the necessary support.
