After meeting the president of the City Council of Porto Alegre, Márcio Bins Ely, the IBGE proceeded with the dissemination of the 2022 Census to the city councilors. On October 8, the IBGE met city councilor Lourdes Sprenger (MDB) and, on October 14, city councilor Matheus Gomes (PSOL). The initiative came from the councilors themselves, after they knew about the Census on the City Council website, which released the meeting with Bins Ely.

Dedicated to the animal cause, city councilor Lourdes Sprenger reported that the question on animals in the National Survey of Health helped to develop projects in that area. She commited herself to help the IBGE in the dissemination of the 2022 Census in the community. “We will support it. We are very interested, because it is not possible to develop public policies without the Census. Sprenger also asked the possibility to include more questions on animals in the IBGE surveys. The meeting counted with the presence of Cláudio Sant’anna, technical coordinator of the Census in RS, and Leandro Brunholi, coordinator of the Porto Alegre area.

Sant’anna and Brunholi were also present in the meeting with city councilor Matheus Gomes, as well as Bruno Fantin, a sub-area coordinator. A former IBGE servant, Gomes commited to help in the dissemination of the PSS and the operation in general, as well as in the negotiation of data collection stations with the City Hall. “He suggsted to look for the secretary of Administration and Heritage, André Barbosa, who is in charge of empty properties in the city. At the same time, Gomes will talk directly with the secretary to help that,” reported Leandro Brunholi.
