IBGE Mato Grosso do Sul officially launches 2020 Census with first REPAC in capital and state

The IBGE State Unit in Mato Grosso do Sul (UE-MS) held on September 30 the first Planning and Follow-up Meeting of the 2020 Population Census (REPAC) in the capital Campo Grande, as well as launched the census operation in the state.

Firstly, the IBGE showed the promotional video of the 2020 Census. After that, the coordinator Alex detailed the objective, importance and major steps of the census operation, as well as the selection process to hire people underway.

After the presentation of the operational coordinator, Mário Alexandre, head of the UE-MS, spoke about the importance of the support of major representatives of the society in the entire census operation. He also told that the operation will be automated and that the data collection will be monitored by GPS. Another point highlighted by the head of the UE-MS is the accomplishment of other IBGE surveys, like the National Survey of Health and the release of the final results of the Census of Agriculture, scheduled for October.

In the end of the event, governor Reinaldo Azambuja highlighted the importance of having an X-ray of the Brazilian population. “The engagement of the entire society is needed. They are extremely relevant data for public policies of health, education, security and development of regions. The quality of the information is key,” said him. Once again he placed the State at the disposal of the IBGE, offering the communication channels with servants and the population, like, for example, messages disseminating the Census on the portals of the state administration and on the payslips of the servants.

After the meeting, several participants met the IBGE servants to know more details of the census operation and put themselves at the disposal of the IBGE to disseminate the census and other surveys underway.

Special secretaries Carlos Alberto de Assis and Pedro Chaves (Institutional Relations), Eduardo Riedel (Government and Strategic Management) and Maria Cecília Amendola da Motta (Education), state representative Onevan de Matos, deputy secretary Ricardo Senna (Semagro) and the commander of the Military Fire Department, Colonel Joilson Alves do Amaral, the coordinator of Indigenous Matters in Campo Grande, João Carlos Vieira, the state president of the quilombola communities, Ramão Castro, the head of security in the Campo Grande City Hall, Major Pedro Centurião, representing mayor Marcos Trad, among other authorities, participated in the meeting. On the IBGE side, the head of the UE-MS, Mário Alexandre de Pinna Frazeto, the deputy head of the UE-MS, Carlita Estevam de Souza, the operational coordinator of the Census, Alex de Almeida Uchôas, the technical coordinator of the Census, Loide Bueno, the coordinator of the area of Campo Grande, Sylvia Martinez, the area assistant of Campo Grande, Marta Simone, and the coordinator of Dissemination, Elenice Cano, were present.
