Patrícia de Oliveira Borges de Souza, a survey analyst of the IBGE´s State Unit of Maranhão (UE-MA), presented the process of data collection that will be carried out in quilombola communities in the 2020 Population Census. The presentation was held in September for educators by the Center for Black Culture (CCN), an entity that supports African descendant groups in the state for 40 years.
In the meeting, the teachers, who work in several quilombola communities in Maranhão, were informed about the work already done for the Census. They were also invited to disseminate the information about the census operations in the schools of the communities they work. The Planning and Follow-up Meetings (Repacs) were mentioned as important instances for the civil society to act towards the Census.

The IBGE´s Supervision of Information Dissemination (SDI) used the event of the Center for Black Culture to disseminate the IBGEeduca project, a portal with exclusive contents aiming at education professionals. Teachers already use the platform in the classroom and plan to put regionalized events together, like presentations and workshops, having the IBGE as host.
